About Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin

A red curry served like ice cream, cold and set, with Phuket lobster sealed inside pearls that dissolve against warm tom yam, is the dish that made this room. Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin is the Bangkok outpost of Henrik Yde-Andersen's Copenhagen restaurant Kiin Kiin, and it has held one MICHELIN star in the Bangkok guide every year since 2017. It runs inside the Siam Kempinski Hotel off Rama I Road in Pathum Wan, where resident head chef Berm Chayawee plates modern Thai across multi-course Journey menus.

The Kitchen

Henrik Yde-Andersen, a Danish chef who spent years learning Thai cooking after first visiting in 2000, built Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen into a starred restaurant and exported its method here. The signature Phuket lobster frozen red curry, priced around THB 1,890 on its own, is the clearest statement of that method: classic Thai flavor rebuilt with Nordic technique and temperature play. Resident head chef Berm Chayawee runs the daily kitchen, and the menus are framed as Journeys.

The set menus are the way in: a five-sequence Whispers of the Land menu at about THB 3,800 and a seven-sequence Harvest at about THB 4,800, both leaning on seasonal Thai produce and contemporary plating. The kitchen keeps the heat and herbal sharpness of real Thai cooking intact while staging it with restraint. The MICHELIN star, held since 2017, reflects that consistency.

The Room

Sra Bua sits off the lobby of the Siam Kempinski, a calm, low-lit dining room themed around a lotus pond, with generous spacing between tables and a hush that suits a long tasting. Service is polished and attentive in the way of a luxury hotel, and the mood is refined rather than buzzy. Dress is smart and elegant; this is a jacket-friendly room. Seating is comfortable and unhurried.

Best for Impressing Clients

Not for

Not for travellers chasing cheap street-stall Thai or a quick bite. Sra Bua is a multi-course hotel tasting at luxury prices, built for a slow, formal evening rather than a casual lunch.

Frequently Asked

Is Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin worth it?

Yes, if you want refined Thai cooking rather than a street-food experience. The restaurant has held one MICHELIN star since 2017 and turns classic Thai flavor into something technically dazzling, like the frozen red curry. At THB 3,800 to 4,800 for the set menus it is priced as fine dining, but the execution and the Siam Kempinski setting earn it.

How hard is it to book Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin?

Not especially hard with notice. Book directly through the restaurant's website or the Siam Kempinski concierge a week or two ahead, and longer for weekends and holidays. The dining room is off Rama I Road in Pathum Wan, behind Siam Paragon. Lunch Journeys are easier to land than dinner, and the hotel can arrange transport.

What is the average meal price at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin?

The set menus run about THB 3,800 for five sequences and THB 4,800 for seven, before drinks and the standard service and tax. The signature Phuket lobster frozen red curry is around THB 1,890 on its own. A wine or cocktail pairing adds meaningfully, so a full dinner for two with drinks comfortably clears THB 12,000.

What should I order at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin?

Take a Journey set menu rather than ordering piecemeal; the kitchen is built around them. Make sure the Phuket lobster frozen red curry is on your sequence, since it is the signature, and let the team pace the herbal and spiced courses. A pairing, wine or non-alcoholic, is worth it. The seven-course Harvest shows the fullest range.

Is Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin good for impressing clients?

Yes. A MICHELIN star, a luxury-hotel setting and discreet, polished service make it a strong business-dinner room. The Journey menus give the evening structure and the cooking impresses without demanding too much explanation. For more options, see our guide to impressing clients.
