About Il Palagio

Paolo Lavezzini grew up in Emilia-Romagna, trained through a run of European Michelin kitchens, then spent a decade in São Paulo running the restaurant Neto before taking the pass here. Il Palagio is the dining room of the Four Seasons Firenze, set on the ground floor of the fifteenth-century Palazzo della Gherardesca on Borgo Pinti, under restored frescoes, with a summer terrace onto the Giardino della Gherardesca.

The kitchen holds one Michelin star in the 2026 Italy guide. For the wider city, the Florence dining guide maps every reviewed table by occasion.

The Kitchen

Lavezzini works Tuscan tradition with a light, modern hand: two tasting menus run around €140 and €160, with an à la carte alongside. Dishes are creative yet unfussy — built on top-quality ingredients rather than spectacle — and the wine list, created by sommelier Walter Meccia, is one of the most respected in the city.

It is a destination kitchen rather than a neighbourhood trattoria. Diners after Florence's other great tasting-menu room should see Enoteca Pinchiorri.

The Room

The room is a Renaissance palazzo dressed for fine dining: marble, Murano-glass chandeliers and frescoes overhead. In summer the terrace opens onto one of the largest private gardens in Florence. It is romantic and formal in equal measure — a setting that does a great deal of the emotional work before the food arrives.

Best for an Anniversary

Il Palagio is a special-occasion room: frescoes, a garden terrace and a one-star tasting menu. It suits an anniversary or a proposal, and it carries the gravity to impress a client who knows what a star costs.

Not for

Not for a budget dinner, a casual quick meal, or anyone who wants a rustic Florentine trattoria — this is a formal, hotel fine-dining room priced accordingly.
