About COTE Miami

COTE Miami opened in the Miami Design District in February 2021, the second outpost of restaurateur Simon Kim's New York original — the world's first Michelin-starred Korean steakhouse. The Miami room won its own Michelin star in the inaugural 2022 Florida Guide and has held it since, most recently in the 2025 Guide.

Head chef David Shim — a Seoul native who trained at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Gramercy Tavern — runs the kitchen. It anchors part of our Korean and steakhouse coverage in the city.

The Kitchen

The format fuses Korean barbecue with American steakhouse: USDA prime beef, much of it dry-aged 45 days in-house, grilled at smokeless tabletop grills. The signature is the Butcher's Feast — four chef-selected cuts with a spread of Korean banchan, the kimchi stew and steamed egg — while the Steak Omakase is the splurge. Miami adds a handful of dishes the New York room doesn't run.

This is precise, product-led cooking dressed as a party: top-grade beef, exact grilling, and the theatre of cooking at the table.

The Room

The dining room seats more than a hundred across a dramatic, low-lit space designed by MNDPC, each table set with its own smokeless grill, plus an outdoor patio. It is energetic and loud in the best way — a celebration room rather than a hushed one.

It books up fast, often weeks ahead for prime times, so plan a reservation rather than walking in.

Best for a celebration or client dinner

COTE suits a milestone anniversary, a lively birthday, or a room to impress clients over prime beef. For other Miami steak and scene tables, compare Bourbon Steak, Maple & Ash or Carbone.

Not for

Not for vegetarians or a quiet, low-key meal — it is a meat-focused, high-energy Korean barbecue where you grill prime beef at a smoke-charged table.
