About Glasswing

Glasswing is the fine-dining restaurant of The Amauris Vienna, a luxury boutique hotel on the Ringstrasse between the State Opera and the Musikverein. It opened in 2023 under executive chef Alexandru Simon, quickly became one of the city's leading kitchens, holds a MICHELIN star and is a member of Relais & Châteaux.

It belongs in the top rank of Vienna dining, alongside the three-star Steirereck and Konstantin Filippou's two-star Konstantin Filippou.

The Kitchen

Dinner is a regularly changing seven-course set menu rooted in classic French technique. Signatures have included tortelloni with Swiss chard, sea-urchin bisque, hoshigaki and XO sauce, and celery with dulce de leche, coffee and pickled quince, alongside Austrian caviar and Danube lamb from a constant luxury menu.

It is fine dining built as a tasting menu in the French tradition; for another intimate Vienna tasting room, Silvio Nickol at the Palais Coburg is a strong alternative.

The Room

The dining room is small, light and refined, named — like the hotel — for a butterfly, with wine pairings led by maître d' and sommelier Max Populorum. Service is precise and warm, walking guests through each course at an unhurried, ceremonial pace.

Best for a proposal

The hushed room, set tasting and chef-led service make Glasswing a memorable proposal in Vienna, and its sense of occasion suits a milestone anniversary dinner.

Not for

Not for casual or budget diners — Glasswing is an expensive, set multi-course tasting in a formal hotel room, with no quick or a-la-carte option.
