About NÀM
NÀM is the sharpest new-generation restaurant on Saranda's main promenade, and the one that most consistently turns up on best-of lists that are actually written by locals rather than cruise-ship guides. It runs out of a two-floor glass-fronted building on Rruga Jonianët, with a main dining room seating forty-eight and a terrace that catches the Ionian sunset from mid-May through October.
The menu is modern Mediterranean with Albanian accents. A crudo of local sea bass with Dukat olive oil and sea fennel; a house pappardelle with Butrint langoustines and a white-wine reduction; a grilled lamb chop with a wild-herb chimichurri; a signature chocolate tart with Albanian sour cherry and whipped kos. The fish changes by catch; the kitchen will walk you through what came off the boat that morning.
The wine list is Italian-heavy with a growing Albanian spine and a short natural-wine section. By-the-glass options are generous, and the sommelier clearly enjoys pushing Albanian Pulla and Kallmet on newcomers. Cocktails run Italian-classical with a modest twist — a spruce-tip negroni on the summer menu is the tell.
Service is young, fluent in four languages, and genuinely happy to be working. The terrace is the right seat in summer; the glass-walled inside room is the right seat in shoulder season. Pricing is European-fair by any reasonable benchmark — forty-five euros per person for a three-course dinner with wine is a material undershoot of the cooking's quality.
Why It's Perfect for First Date
NÀM is a first-date room in the modern Albanian Riviera register — lively enough to carry conversation, quiet enough to actually hear, good enough that the food shares the evening rather than owning it. The Ionian sunset closes any second-date argument in fifteen minutes. It also works as a close-a-deal table for a small working group where the atmosphere should feel celebratory but not formal.
