The Verdict
Songjeong Haemultang sits on the Dalmaji-gil coastal ridge between Haeundae and Songjeong Beach, in a stretch of road best known for cafes and marinated-crab houses. The restaurant itself is mid-size. Around 80 seats across two floors. And the second floor has the unbroken ocean view that the reservation-required window tables require.
The cooking is built around Busan's two iconic crab preparations. Ganjang gejang. Raw blue crab marinated for three days in a soy-ginger-garlic brine. Is the defining dish and the reason most diners come. Yangnyeom gejang is the spicy chili-paste version; the kitchen will serve both side by side at guest request. Kkotgetang, the crab hot pot built from the same species, closes the meal; haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) is the mandatory opener.
Pricing runs KRW 80,000 to 130,000 per person depending on crab sizing (crab is sold by weight; a 500g crab for two runs roughly KRW 120,000). Season matters. Winter crab (November to March) is firmer, sweeter, and worth the premium. Weekend reservations are advised; the drive from Haeundae centre takes 15 minutes by taxi.
Why It Works for Team Dinner
A half-hour drive from central Busan up the Dalmaji coastal ridge, Songjeong is where serious seafood dinners happen on the eastern peninsula. Best for first dates that travel well. The drive out, the ocean view, the marinated crab ritual all provide structure that a downtown dinner cannot. Winter only (December to March) for the peak crab season.
Signature Dishes
Ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab); yangnyeom gejang (spicy crab); haemul pajeon (seafood pancake); kkotgetang (crab hot pot).
