The Restaurant
There is no dining room in Lyon quite like this. Les Loges occupies the historic courtyard of La Cour des Loges, a 15th-century Renaissance palace tucked into the ochre lanes of Vieux Lyon. Four interconnected medieval buildings were joined around a central Florentine courtyard that now rises seventeen metres to a soaring contemporary glass canopy, its warm amber light filtering down over marble floors, stone balconies, and the kind of architectural drama that makes the act of sitting down feel like an event in itself.
Chef Anthony Bonnet arrived at Les Loges with a rigorous classical pedigree and has turned the kitchen into a laboratory for terroir-driven precision. His tasting menus are anchored in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, showcasing the volcanic cheeses of the Auvergne, the pork of the Ain, the fish of the Saône, and the extraordinary dairy heritage of Bresse — all treated with the kind of disciplined technique that convinced the Michelin inspectors to award the house its star. The vegetarian adaptation is offered as a complete parallel experience, not an afterthought.
Two menus are offered: the Terres menu at €125 and the Saisons menu at €165. Both change with the seasons. Expect dishes of genuine complexity — langoustine glazed in smoked duck fat, a roe deer loin rested over celeriac ash, a dessert of frozen Chartreuse with crystallised angelica that tastes of the Alps in winter. The service is warm and unfussy, the wine list deep in Rhône and Burgundy, and the sommelier's guidance consistently excellent.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday evenings, with reception from 7:15pm. Booking in advance is essential, and requesting a table in the courtyard itself rather than in the mezzanine gallery is advisable — it is the view that makes this room.
Why It’s Perfect for a Proposal
Few rooms in France provide the same convergence of architecture, intimacy, and culinary ambition as this one. The candlelit courtyard, the whispered service, the slow ceremony of a long tasting menu — all of it creates the kind of suspension of ordinary time that a proposal demands. The staff at Les Loges handle special occasions with practised discretion. A glass of Jacquesson Champagne can be arranged to arrive at precisely the right moment. The setting speaks before you do.
